10/2/2011Greetings and Welcome;
Today is Sunday September 4th, 2011. The Moon is second quarter, waxing in Sagittarius. It's the Celtic tree month of Vine. This month, September, is Pagan Pride month. The second harvest, Mabon, is drawing near, and with it comes the seasonal change to Fall. Nights are getting longer, the days are in turn, getting shorter. We get closer to the balance that is the autumnal equinox, and then the return of the darkness! Mabon, the second harvest, is sometimes thought of as, "the Witches Thanksgiving", it is also the time of Pagan Pride Days festivities. Having worked with the Pagan Pride committees in the past, we know first-hand the work that goes into putting these events on. Even though we would have liked to continue helping on the PPD committee, running the group, classes, and life, in general, proved to be more than we could handle. We do enjoy attending them, and even participating in them, when the opportunity arises. Prance The Witches Path does support the efforts put into these events.
Anyway, what I was getting to, as this was in the "Craft Writings and Literature" pages of the site, this poem. One of our former students found this piece and shared it with us, and we'd like to share it with you. Unfortunately, however, we do not know who wrote this poem, so we are unable to give credit to it's composer. We do, however, wish to extend our appreciation of this poem, and ask that all who read it, enjoy it as much as we do. Here it is;
"Pagan Pride"
"In darkness you paint us, but we will not hide.
We're the light of this country in which you abide.
We're fearless and strong, the protection of life
hidden in shadows, we conquer all strife.
We come from the Old Ones, our lineage secure.
We rise from the ashes, we always endure.
It's time you remembered we were here first.
We healed your sick, yet suffered your worst.
From time immemorial, we've woven our lore
cunning folk, healers, benandanti- there's more.
We're black and we're white, we're brown and we're yellow.
We're women and children, and mighty fine fellows.
We're Her hidden children, the angels of light.
Our task is to teach and to help set things right.
We conjure and cast, and whisper and pray
so you can enjoy your freedom each day.
We've long been your army, protecting your back
when you are in trouble, in secret we act.
The Mother is watching, she hasn't missed much.
She's gathered her magick and given the touch
to Witches and Pagans and Druids and such!
The times are a'changingand one thing is clear
the Lord and the Lady have now reappeared.
Two pillars, three points, four quarters extend
five is the number of magickal blend.
By Moon and by Sun, by Earth and by stars
realize this day that the power is ours!!!
Pagan Pride- Live it, Breathe it, Be it.
This piece is dedicated to those who walk this path. Whether you are out in the open or quietly practicing, always be Pagan and be Proud!!! Show your support to those people who work hard throughout the year to put together these festivities, attend Pagan Pride Days events!!! We thank you and appreciate your contributions to this spiritual path and way of life. We are forever in the service of the Lord and the Lady. In love and light.
