1/19/2009 Beautiful.....Calming....Healing......Amazing Amethyst
Amethyst is one of the most beautiful stones. There are many different types of Amethyst and..not all are purple! Amethyst also comes in green shades as well. There is Chevron, Vera Cruz, Phantom Quartz, Spirit Quartz, Brandenberg, Elestial, Smoky, Lavendar and Amethyst Herkimer!
The qualities and properties of all of these types of Amethyst would take forever to list..so I will just talk about Amethyst in general!
Amethyst is known as a stone of "spirituality". It has been known for balancing the intellectual emotional and spiritual energies. It connects the lower vibrations and transmutes them to higher frequencies promoting positive energy. The Amethyst is a stone of stability and strength, as well as peace. Amethyst can be invigorating but also calming as well.
Wearing or carrying an Amethyst has been known to ward off pyschic attacks. It has also been used to prevent nightmares.
Amethyst has also been known as a stone of sobriety. It is helpful in allowing one to focus and meditate on reality. It is also beneficial in aiding with healing in the areas of the heart, the nervous system, the skeletal system, digestive tract and stomache.
When our youngest daughter was little she had nightmares. After attending a crystal workshop I began talking with one of the presenters telling him about this. He suggested that we take an Amethyst crystal and place it under her bed beneath where her head would rest. We tried it and it worked! It was great to be able to get a good nights sleep for all of us!
My friend Ceceilia from Ecuador is a mid-wife. When we first met thru our children I was nervous as to how she would react to our being Witches. She came by the house to drop off play clothes for her son. When she saw our altar and all kinds of Witchy things I thought for sure we would never see her or Kirk again....But....she immediately started talking about herbs and mid-wifery. We clicked right away. She also pulled out from under her collar a silver pentacle with an Amethyst point. We both laughed as we found that we had far more incommon than I could ever have imagined! One of her aids in helping women in labor is to have them hold an Amethyst crystal. It seems to have soothed and calmed many a nervous first time mom and then some!
Amethyst is known to be associated with the astrological signs of Pisces, Virgo, Capricorn and Aquarius.
The Amethyst has so many more qualities if you are interested there are many good books out there full of information on this beautiful stone!
The next stone that I will present will be Aquamarine.......
